Beginning in January 2027, the Íøºì±¬ÁÏ, Baltimore (UMB) will launch a new transportation program — called UMB Connect — that is designed to enhance how students and employees move on and around campus.

The Mt Vernon Route

​The Mt Vernon route will no longer operate after January 1, 2027.

Safe Ride Program

​Enhancements will be coming to the Safe Ride program.

Alternative transportation will foster a lively community around UMB.

 

New MTA Student Benefit

In partnership with UMB, the MTA is introducing a new transit benefit program for students beginning in August 2026.

New Programs and Enhancements

Safe Ride Program Enhancements

Safe Ride and Safe Walk (to be renamed) will operate during the same hours and within the same boundaries as before. Enhancements to the program include:

  • Increased number of vans with ADA accessibility
  • Dedicated staff
  • Technology enhancements that include
    • Dash Cameras
    • UMB Swipe System
    • Customer Rating Software
    • On Demand Route Software with real time tracking and push notifications
    • Designated pick up locations on campus

MTA Student Benefit Details

  • Opt-in program – self-pay
  • Semester Pass
    • Enrollment begins July  2026
    • Ridership begins August 1, 2026
  • Semester Dates
    • Fall Semester: August 1 to December 31
    • Spring Semester: January 1 to May 31
    • There is no summer semester option
  • UMB student savings compared to monthly purchase
    • $150 per semester
    • Savings of $135 based on current MTA student monthly rate ($57 x 5 months)
