Developing Graduate-Level Interdisciplinary Course on Climate Change and Mental Health
Dr. Lynn Michalopoulous
School of Social Work
Associate Professor & Director of Global Initiatives
Through funding from the President's Global Impact Fund at UMB, Dr. Michalopoulous aims to further understand the relationship between climate change and mental health among at-risk migrant populations in non-western contexts. As a part of the PGIF project, she has proposed the development of a graduate-level interdisciplinary course on climate change and mental health. This class will incorporate findings from the PGIF project, which includes an extensive literature review of concepts and policies related to climate change and mental health in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC), in addition to community-based interventions which address the mental health outcomes related to climate change globally.
