Dr. Owens plans to integrate global learning concepts into the MHS 652 Communications and Leadership course to cultivate cultural humility and adaptability in healthcare professionals. She seeks to incorporate modules on intercultural communication and effective cross-cultural strategies and hope that adding discussions on global health systems will highlight strengths, weaknesses, and challenges of diverse healthcare models. Further, she seeks to deliberately highlight and explore global health challenges, such as pandemics and health disparities, encouraging students to analyze them from a global perspective and develop leadership and communication strategies to address them.
