MLK Jr. Event Features Jurist, Awards for Diversity Efforts
The (UMB) commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History Month at an annual event to recognize student, faculty and staff leaders in diversity.

WHO: , president of UMB; Hon. Judge Robert M. Bell, JD, former chief judge, Maryland Court of Appeals; Brian Sturdivant, MSW ‘00, director, strategic initiatives and community engagement, UMB ; UMB CURE Scholars leadership team; UMB Champion of Excellence; , associate professor, Íøºì±¬ÁÏ (SSW), whose research focuses on aftermath of mass violence, traumatic death, and coping among African American family members of homicide victims; (HDA) student members;faculty members who led design of a course, The Furman L. Templeton (FLT) Preparatory Academy School Choir Club, represented by 25 singers ages 7-11 froma UMB partner public school in the SSW-led program.
Bell will give the keynote address. Perman will deliver remarks and present the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Diversity Recognition Awards to Sturdivant, Sharpe, the HAD, and Maryland Carey Law faculty members. FLT choir selections will open and close the program.
