Does taking painkillers, fever reducers or cough syrup affect building immunity against any future illness? Like does it reduce antibody production in any way?This is my 2nd time getting COVID and the symptoms aren't extreme, but still annoying. As I picked up the bottle of cold and cough medicine I wondered if toughing it out would be more beneficial for the next time I get COVID (hopefully not anytime soon.) The same question can be asked about any viral infection. I have no issue with taking meds or having vaccines, just curious!
It is generally advised to not take antipyretics prior to scheduled vaccinations. But there is little data that shows that the taking of antipyretics causes a significant different in a person’s response to vaccination. I advise that people take antipyretics only if needed.
