I tested Positive for Covid on 12/5. I was very sick on 12/6 and 12/7. I have only had a stuffy nose since. The positive line was very light 12/11-12/13. Today the line showed up immediately and was dark again on day 9. What is going on? I have been in isolation at home since 12/5, I wear a mask outside of my bedroom. I disinfect everything with Lysol spray and wipes. Why am I testing more negative again?

A test kit that shows you are positive means that you are still shedding the virus. The explanation for the variable darkness of the lines may be due to your test kits, older kits (near expiration) may produce no line or faded lines. Variable darkness of the lines also could be due to differences in the swabbing of the nose/throat with each test (some days you may have been more vigorous and better sampling for virus than other days). We know the virus duration of shedding is commonly 14 days, so your experience is not entirely unusual.
