I am wondering if UMMS plans to continue requiring masking in health facilities. I very much hope that they do, including requiring KN95 or better for clinical staff. As a high risk patient who has been diligently avoiding infection, medical appointments are one of the few places that I can expect to still see covid mitigation practices in place, such as universal masking and improved ventilation. I need to be able to access healthcare safely. Is there anywhere where I can provide feedback to UMMS to express this feedback? Thanks!

At this time, UMMS is maintaining the requirement for masking for all direct patient care and making it optional in all public spaces. This transition is being made after careful consideration of the data available to us and in consideration of the population we serve. There may be further de-escalations to these masking requirements as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve and we approach the end of the viral respiratory season. We recognize the impact of these changes to our high-risk patients and will have our vulnerable populations in mind as we make these transitions.

It is important to note that your voice matters to us. If you wish to have any of your providers at UMMS wear a mask while caring for you, please let your care provider(s)s know and they will honor that request.
