My husband and I are up to date on all boosters. We contracted Covid for the first time on January 1st of this year. Our son is coming home for Spring Break. He is fully boosted and acquired Covid for the first time last weekend. He will be returning to our home on Day 7 of his infection. It is my understanding that while it is not probable, it is still possible for us to be reinfected 60 days out from our own infections. Is this information correct for Omicron and its current variant? Should we still be isolating from him and wearing masks? Thank you,
People can continue to shed virus for up to 14 days without symptoms, so I suggest your son wear a well-fitting mask (e.g., KN95) when around you and your husband. Yes, it is possible to get a re-infection.
