Good morning! I was one of the first individuals to receive the updated covalent (Moderna) booster shot for COVID-19 back on September 9, 2022. When should I get a second such (bivalent) shot, if I should get one at all? Do the experts even know how long these shots are good for? Thanks.--- a 75 year old man generally in good health.

A second bivalent booster dose has not been authorized. You should continue to practice personal precautions to further reduce the risk of acquiring the infection, and if infected then to seek immediate therapy with Paxlovid.  Vaccination is only one of the many proper aspects of reducing risk with respiratory viruses.

There is insufficient data on knowing how long the bivalent booster dose lasts, as these data are being generated and analyzed right now. Thanks for being up to date with vaccination and your proactive question.
