You could have been exposed at either of those 2 recent events. You could have also been exposed during any other personal errand conducted in a public space (e.g., grocery shopping, visiting the bank teller, etc.). A person may be shedding the virus (from exhaled breath) before symptoms onset, after recovery of illness, or you could remain completely asymptomatic while unknowingly being infected and shedding the virus. Vaccination does not guarantee that you will not get infected or not transmit the virus; the vaccine is designed to reduce the risk of hospitalization and death from infection. The rapid at-home Covid tests are not 100% accurate, so a single negative test does not necessarily indicate that you have not been infected. Therefore, I would wear a well-fitting mask (e.g., KN95 mask) whenever outside the home and in indoor spaces. If you develop symptoms, then you should isolate at home.
