Dear sir or madam, I have a very concrete question regarding re-infections with the coronavirus. Given I have been vaccinated three times (no updated booster), and recently got infected with the BA.5 subvariant. How well am I protected against re-infections with the same sub-variant, i.e., BA.5 in the future? Kind regards,

Reinfections from another Covid infection may be lower, but we don’t understand for how long this moderate protection may last. It is not as long as vaccination. Plus, the risk of experiencing “long-Covid” or some of the long-lasting consequences of a Covid infection are not reduced. I would highly recommend getting vaccinated with the bivalent booster.

The CDC has a good discussion on this topic.
