The fever could have been due to any number of other viruses which circulate at this time of year. If your fever was brief and you have now fully recovered then we may never know the answer to what caused the fever. If you remain symptomatic (e.g., have sore throat, cough, runny nose, feel run-down/fatigued, etc.) then you could still be infectious, and I would recommend you remain at home until resolution—you may have Covid or you may have some other virus. The at-home test may have been negative but a repeat test may become positive or a PCR test may be positive—this is because the at-home rapid tests are not “perfect” tests.
