If a patient is positive for COVID, but has no colon (complete proctocolectomy), is Paxlovid still a viable treatment? Does paxlovid need a colon for breakdown/usefulness? Thank you.

Paxlovid absorption is through the small intestine, so the absence of the colon (large intestine) should not affect drug absorption or breakdown of the drug. Paxlovid may still be a viable treatment option should you get a Covid infection.
