My parents told me they tested positive for covid and immediately I started feeling bad. Nothing but a sore throat a mild coughing, but I get very anxious about these things. Currently I'm at their house quarantining and my symptoms have been about the same for a few days. My question is when and if I should go to the hospital? 10yrs ago I almost died with pneumonia and was put on a ventilator so it really worries me. Does that make me more susceptible for getting covid pneumonia?

Your message states you have a sore throat with mild cough, in the setting of exposure with known Covid infections (your parents). You may qualify for treatment with Paxlovid which could significantly reduce your risk of respiratory/pulmonary complications or long-term complications with a Covid infection.  A prior very serious pulmonary infection (your ventilator-required pneumonia) may have caused “scarring” or other long-term consequences which could put you at higher risk of serious complications with a Covid infection.  I would seek medical advice with your primary physician and determine if you are eligible for Paxlovid therapy.
