I had exposure to a friend who tested positive and both of us have similar covid-like symptoms. However, I just tested negative on my PCR test and 2 rapid tests. How likely is it that I do have covid vs just a different viral infection? My friend tested positive on a rapid test.
It is possible that you have a Covid infection. Experts suggest that you perform repeat testing on different days or at least 12 hours apart. It could be that you have the virus but are not yet shedding so that it is detectable in your saliva or nose (nasal swab specimen) yet.  I would still quarantine.
