Hello, my brother (30 yr old male w/ hypothyroidism, obesity, poor diet, relatively sedentary lifestyle, and sleep apnea) recently contracted COVID and is currently at home resting. He said his fever has been rising and I asked if he took any Tylenol. He said the following in response:

There is no problem with using acetaminophen (trade name Tylenol) or NSAIDs (which includes ibuprophen and naproxen) for symptom relief or fever reduction.  However, these drugs should be taken as prescribed or as the package insert instructs. For example, acetaminophen in very high amounts (doses that exceed the package inserts) can cause liver damage.  There is a lot of misinformation which can be found on the internet, so only seek reliable medical sources for information on medical matters.
