What does a COVID-19 antibody test tell us? If it comes back positive that you have the antibodies, does that mean you likely have very significant resistance to the current form of the virus. I have family members who are getting this test and I read conflicting answers. Please let me know and thank you,

The short answer is that a positive antibody test only tells you that you have been previously infected with COVID19.  We can not say anything else about it and it absolutely does not mean that you are protected from infection if you get exposed again.

Based on all that we know about viral infections, it probably means that it will be harder for you to get serious illness if exposed again but there is no way to know that yet.  Also, the antibody tests don't give you an amount of antibody that you have in your body.  Only a positive or negative.  The more antibody you have, called your antibody titer, will probably correlate with how protected you are.  But that data is not fully known and if someone tells you that you are protected if you are antibody positive, then they don't know what they are talking about.
