We believe the key is that paper is porous and allows for infectious droplets to dry out much more quickly, thus killing the virus faster. Although lab studies show these differences in the duration of the virus being infectious, the key for daily life is that we remember to clean and disinfect surfaces (especially those high-touch or common surfaces) that are shared among people—these are commonly the non-porous objects like table, counter, desk surfaces; doorknobs; stair railing; etc. For clothing, you should perform laundry more frequently.
