Should unvaccinated primary school teachers be required to wear a mask? I found out a colleague has chosen not to vaccinate, and where I live (the Netherlands- Im American), masks are not mandated in schools. I am quite concerned as our students are under 12 and some do have respiratory issues like asthma. Im trying to gather as much info as possible to present to the Head of my school. Thank you.
Local school systems have the authority to “require” or mandate the wearing of masks (from the legal standpoint). However, irrespective of legal limitations, the wearing of masks is one of the proven measures that can limit the spread of COVID. I too am concerned for all children under 12 years of age because they are people who are currently ineligible for vaccination and thus are a vulnerable population. I completely endorse that masking should be observed.
