Our friend is fully vaccinated but got breakthrough infection. She started showing symptoms on Friday august 13th. As of today august 16 symptoms have mostly subsided. My fiancé and I are scheduled to travel and share a house with her on august 25th. We are both fully vaccinated. What is our level of risk of being infected by that person? Should the trip be canceled? If she is still testing positive, but has no symptoms, what is the likelihood she is still infectious on the 25th?

“Breakthrough” infections causing mild or moderate symptoms should be expected, even among the fully vaccinated. However, the risk of infection is far higher among people who remain unvaccinated.  A person who has infection may be infectious (and should quarantine) for 10 days.  It should be safe for you and your fiancé to visit your friend after those 10 days from her infection, assuming you are all fully vaccinated.
