My 13 year old is vaccinated. He is high risk, as am I (his mother). I'm trying to decide how safe it is to send him to school where no one will be masked and almost no one is vaccinated. He will wear a mask. But I worry he will catch it and bring it home to me and our family. With delta raging (we are in Kansas) should we feel safe sending a vaccinated, masked teen into a school with no precautions?

Unfortunately the answer is no. I hope that you will have options for a combination of virtual and in-person learning to ensure the safety of your family. A safe environment for schools is the consideration for universal masking (regardless of vaccination status), adequate ventilation, and some physical distancing.  This is especially important because of the recognition of the easy transmissibility of the Delta variant and future variant viruses.  The CDC’s guidance for COVID-19 Prevention in Schools is here. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/k-12-guidance.html
