Are reports of individuals getting COVID a second time after fully recovering accurate? How can immunity (natural or by vaccine) be obtained if this is true?

The reports of being reinfected have been shown to be due to clearance of the initial infection and epithelial cells dying from the virus and then becoming positive. There doesn’t seem to be any evidence that there is really a second infection.  And from all samples from these individuals showing positive again, there is no live virus.  So there doesn’t seem to be any effect of this issue on being protected from infection by a vaccine.
