Is there anything that could stop the President elect's promise to institute a mass deportation? Is there precedent for this, and does it matter if there was?
In theory the president has the power to prevent persons from entering in the country illegally and staying in the country illegally. Congress has made the laws on what constitutes a legal entry. All the President is doing is enforcing those laws.
