Under the U.S. Constitution, can an individual serve as both the VP and a U.S. Senator? In numerous articles, it says VP-Elect J.D. Vance must resign his Senate seat. Is the word 鈥渕ust鈥 being used when describing a procedural matter or based on existing law, Federal or State? If no law forbids it, what would be the practical limitations, advantages and disadvantages?Thank you

Article I, Section 6 declares, "no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office."  Vance must resign his Senate seat.
