My 80 year old mom has advanced lung cancer (no more chemo) and just had a very bad stroke. She is now in hospice at the nursing home. She takes several pills a day, including blood pressure medication. Should she keep taking those medications as she did before the stroke?

Well it depends on her prognosis and what her BP is. If she’s close to death, and her BP is on the low side, it should probably be tapered down and stopped. If she still has a highish BP, and she can still swallow the tablet/capsule, she should continue (hopefully to prevent another stroke!). The most important thing is the daughter should speak with the provider and have this very conversation.
