PRODUCTS SLEEVES Wall and Floor Sleeves: Retain "Steel Pipe Sleeves" or "Cast-Iron Pipe Sleeves" Subparagraph below for penetrations through exterior walls above and below grade. Steel Pipe Sleeves: ASTMA53/A53M, TypeE, GradeB, Schedule40, zinc coated, plain ends. Retain "Sleeves for Conduits Penetrating Non-Fire-Rated Gypsum Board Assemblies" Paragraph below when required by authorities having jurisdiction. NFPA70 does not contain requirements for sleeves. The requirement below is from International Building Code, Section 712, "Penetrations." Non-Fire-Rated Soundproof Partition Penetrations: Where new and existing cables pass through interior partitions with sound proofing provide pipe sleeves. Seal the annular spaces between construction openings, the sleeves and cables with soundproof insulation material equal to the width of the opening. The soundproof insulation shall match the insulation in the partition. Sleeves for Rectangular Openings: Material: Galvanized-steel sheet. New Construction: All new penetrations shall be provided with a pipe sleeve and sealant materials. Existing Construction: All new service penetrations through existing rated assemblies shall be provided with a pipe sleeve and sealant materials. All existing unsealed penetrations for services passing through existing rated assemblies within the project area shall be provided with sealant materials. Project Area: The project area shall include the finished spaces and related sections of the utility shafts within the project area footprint. Wall Pipe Sleeve Applications: Pipe sleeves shall be required for all new conduit penetrations through rated wall assemblies and non-rated CMU walls. Sealant shall have VOC content of 250g/L or less when calculated according to 40CFR59, SubpartD (EPA Method24).
